Naples Post Hurricane Irma
As Hurricane Irma was barreling towards South West Florida, we were anxious about making a decision, should we stay or should we go. In the end we decided to leave and drove North to Birmingham, AL. We found a very welcome atmosphere and had a great experience in Birmingham!
Upon our return to Naples, we realized how fortunate we were in that our strong building codes and practices prevented many homes from suffering as much damage as people feared. While many people and neighborhoods suffered real damage, from which they are gradually recuperating, it is striking to see how little structural damage appears to have happened when touring parts of the city. The winds of the storm, which was rated a Category 3 storm when it made landfall at Marco Island and fell to a Category 2 storm while passing directly over Naples, did the majority of damage to trees and landscaping, debris which indeed still litters the neighborhoods of our city. Local officials state that it may take months to fully remove the debris.
Naples is up and running. We preparing for a wonderful 2018 season. The Healthiest, Happiest City in the country, 3 weeks after the hurricane’s passing, is looking forward to hosting our winter residents and visitors! Our festivals and street parties are still scheduled to occur and As always, please reach out to us if you have questions about specific neighborhoods and homes.
